Cops son torches churches, media blames black metal

Three predominantly African-American churches in Louisiana were set on fire earlier this month. The suspect, the son of an area police deputy, has been charged with arson and hate crimes. Authorities and some media outlets have focused on the suspect’s musical taste, as devotees of the “black metal” genre have been implicated in church burnings in the past.
