North Korea has fired what appears to be a ballistic missile, the South’s military says, less than a week after the country’s latest missile test.
The missile was launched just before dawn from near the North Korean coastal city of Wonsan, the South’s military said, but specific details were not immediately available. It is unclear whether the launch was successful and, if so, how far it flew.
There was no immediate word from U.S. Pacific Command, which typically provides a brief assessment within several hours. South Korean President Moon Jae-in has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.
